Syko Sam Murders

(MySpace Photo)
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) A 20-year-old California man calling himself Syko Sam rapped in his horrorcore lyrics on "the best feeling" derived from killing people slowly, watching their last breaths.

Richard Alden Samuel McCroskey III is now accused of killing a Virginia pastor, with authorities saying Sunday they expect to charge him in three more slayings at the home of a college professor. Police charged McCroskey of Castro Valley, Calif., with murder, robbery and stealing the automobile of Mark Niederbrock, a pastor at Walker's Presbyterian Church in Appomattox County.

Niederbrock has been tentatively identified as one of four people discovered Saturday in Farmville, about 50 miles west of Richmond, at the home of Longwood University professor Debra Kelley. Niederbrock and Kelley were separated, said Farmville police Capt. Wade Stimpson. He emphasized that the state medical examiner's office would not officially identify any of the victims until at least Monday.

McCroskey recorded horrorcore music, which sets violent lyrics to hip-hop beats, and his songs spoke of death, murder and mutilation. His MySpace Web page said he has only been rapping for a few months but has been a fan for years of the genre.

"You're not the first, just to let you know. I've killed many people and I kill them real slow. It's the best feeling, watching their last breath. Stabbing and stabbing till there's nothing left," McCroskey sings in "My Dark Side."

McCroskey will be formally charged with the other three killings once the bodies are identified, Stimpson said. He said "there are a number of factors relating to why" police couldn't identify the victims. He would not say how they were killed.

Police went to Kelley's home Thursday after a West Virginia woman called to say that it had been days since she heard from her teen daughter, who was staying with Kelley and Niederbrock's daughter, Emma, Stimpson said.

Investigators went to the home, where a man matching McCroskey's description told them the girls had gone to the movies. When the mother still didn't hear from her daughter Friday, police went to the home and found the bodies.

Police arrested McCroskey at the Richmond airport Saturday as he waited to take a plane back to California. He is being held in the Piedmont Regional Jail and has an initial court appearance on Monday to determine if he needs a court-appointed attorney.

Stimpson said messages posted online led police to believe McCroskey knew Emma Niederbrock and that he may have been visiting her.

On McCroskey's MySpace page, someone who goes by Ragdoll, which friends identified as Emma Niederbrock, wrote several messages to McCroskey. In a post dated Sept. 7, Niederbrock says she is excited for McCroskey's visit to her house.

"The next time you check your myspace, YOULL BE AT MY HOUSE!" the post reads.

A friend said McCroskey, Emma and her friend were brought together by horrorcore music.

Andres Shrim, who owns the small, independent horrorcore music label Serial Killin Records in New Mexico and performs under the name SickTanicK, said he saw all three Sept. 12 at an all-day music festival in Southgate, Mich.

Shrim said despite the morbid music he and his friends loved, they were not violent people.

"You look at the music we do and it's kind of harsh and somewhat brutal at times, but there's a different side of life that people aren't normally accustomed to, and being an artist, I think it's important to see both sides of life," he said.

Shrim asked others not to judge McCroskey by the lyrics to his songs or his disturbing Web pages.

"This is not something from the Sam I know," he said. "This is not something that I would ever, ever in a million years envision him doing."

Stimpson called McCroskey's songs and writings "a little disturbing," and said police were looking into that.

A phone message left Sunday at McCroskey's California home was not immediately returned.

Brotha Lynch Hung Signs To Strange Music

Legendary northern Cali rapper Brotha Lynch is ready for a new chapter in his music career, as he lands a deal with Tech N9ne's Strange Music label.
Last week, the Sacramento based rapper announced the news, via his MySpace blog: "It's goin' down."
The indie touring juggernaut, Tech N9ne, was just as excited when the deal was finalized, and his business partner told him the news.
"Travis called me and said BROTHA LYNCH IS OFFICIALLY SIGNED TO STRANGE MUSIC! Sh** just keeps gettin better and better..." Tech revealed, via his Twitter page.
Lynch said that when he first met the Kansas City rapper, he was trying to get into his show, and now years later, he's been added to his roster of artists. Isn't it ironic?
"When I first met Tech, he was a fan. I let 'em back stage, now I'm signed wit em," he said.
According to Lynch's Twitter page, the first release via his new pact with Strange Music will be a project called Dinner and a Movie, which he's been working on since at least 2007. The album is expected to drop later this year.
Despite the long wait, Lynch feels his fans are in for his best work to date. "I feel my next album will be the best! Wait 'til ya hear the realness."
Until his official album hits, Lynch will be offering fans an appetizer. He's gearing up for the release of a new mixtape called Gas Station, which is available for pre-order via his MySpace profile at MySpace.com/OriginalSpydermann.

Blestenation to Release New Mixtape Monday

Rap group BLESTeNATION is set to release their highly anticipated new mixtape titled BLESTeNATION presents: MBC Digital this monday at MBC Digital and their myspace at myspace.com/BLESTeNATION
Some say three’s a crowd, but this trio knows there’s enough room for everyone. A shared talent for bustin’ rhymes gave MCs Various and Werdplay a reason to conspire. “I walked up to Various at a house party, started talking, and a week later, we had this whole shit set up,” says the emotive lyricist Werdplay. The duo met Fafu in 2000 and added him to the lineup as their resident DJ and beatmaker. With a sonic mixture of gritty appeal (“Requiem for a Dream”) and comic relief (“Is Anybody in Here?”) on rock-rapinspired beats, BLESTeNATION hopes for some major play. “It’s the combination of what we do together and our outlook on life,” says Fafu of the group’s best qualities. From touring with Scarface and Erik Sermon to collaborating with Method Man, Blestenation puts in more work than a crack ho before Christmas.

Eminem Scraps New Album

Rapper Eminem has scrapped the majority of material for his comeback album - because it's not "current" enough.

The Without Me hitmaker has been working on tracks for his follow up to 2004's Encore since last year (07), but his pal 50 Cent reveals the star has chosen to start from scratch to ensure his album is as new and relevant as possible.

He says, "A lot of material he wrote prior to this announcement (of the new album) is being scrapped. He's got to feel like it's just happened, it's new and it's current. That's just how he is creatively as an artist."

But the In Da Club rapper insists fans of Eminem won't have long to wait to hear the final results, although a release date has yet to be set."

50 Cent adds, "You'll be seeing him shortly. He's working. I spent the weekend at his house. Even though he tries to relax and stay home it's impossible for him to stay in." (MT/WNWCNM/IG)

Foo Fighters to go on Hiatus

Foo Fighters are set to take a "long break" from music and have warned fans not to expect a new album any time soon.

Frontman Dave Grohl told BBC Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles that the band were set to go on hiatus then return with a new sense of purpose further down the line.

"We've never really taken a long break, I think it's time," he said.

The former Nirvana drummer continued: "After doing Wembley [the band played Wembley Stadium on June 6 and 7] we shouldn't come back there for 10 years because we've played to everybody.

"We're over in the UK every year, every summer, so I think it's time to take a break and come back over when people really miss us."

Rapper Earl 'DMX' Simmons Takes Plea Bargain In Miami

MIAMI - Rapper DMX has pleaded out a Miami drug case and now awaits extradition to face more charges in Arizona.

The 37-year-old rapper and actor pleaded guilty Wednesday to attempted marijuana and cocaine possession and was sentenced to time served. His lawyer Bradford Cohen says DMX is still in custody waiting for Arizona authorities to pick him up on drug and animal cruelty charges he faces in Phoenix.

Cohen says the rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, decided to plead guilty when he was denied bail earlier this week due to the outstanding Arizona warrant.

Cohen says if he hadn't pleaded out, Simmons would have had to sit in jail in Miami until an October trial date.

Axl Rose News

As the rock n’ roll world continues to hold its collective breath in anticipation of Chinese Democracy -- the Axl Rose project labeled as a Guns N’ Roses album, despite the absence of any other original members – the story behind the ever elusive record took yet another bizarre turn earlier today.

A number of sources, including Billboard Magazine, are reporting the arrest of Kevin Cogill, on suspicion of violating federal copyright laws.

Cogill is accused of being the guy who leaked nine of the long rumored Chinese Democracy tracks to the internet earlier this summer, in what was reported to be at, or at least very near, final master quality recordings. This prompted a new round of rumors that the release of the album – which has been in the making for about a decade now – could finally be imminent.

The leaked tracks in question include "Rhiad and the Bedouins," "If the World," "Better," "The Blues," "Madagascar," "IRS," "There Was a Time," and the title track. According to the Billboard report, Cogill has also admitted that he was, in fact, the source of the tracks which first showed up on his blog, but soon spread widely across the Internet.

Meanwhile, there has been yet another round of speculation regarding the release of the perennially postponed album. The latest rumors have Chinese Democracy finally coming out this fall, and distributed through a exclusivity deal with mega-retailer Best Buy.

Guns N’ Roses (or in this case Axl Rose and whatever musicians he happens to be playing with at the moment) are clients of Azoff Management – who helped negotiate similar retail exclusivity deals for fellow clients the Eagles and Journey, which would seem to lend some credence to the latest Chinese Democracy release scenario.

Linkin Park Predicting Shorter Turnaround for New Music

As Linkin Park prepares for its upcoming North American tour, frontman Chester Bennington is predicting a much shorter turnaround for the group's follow-up to 2007's "Minutes to Midnight."

"We sparked a new kind of life into what we do during the writing of ('Midnight')," Bennington told Billboard.com. "We want to keep that going. I think we're in the mode, and I have a good feeling we're going to put another record out really quickly."

Bennington said Linkin Park will bring recording gear on the road to capture ideas that come up while they're on tour. In addition to the North American jaunt with Coheed & Cambria and Chiodos that kicks off February 12 in Omaha, Neb., the group plans to host another edition of its Projekt Revolution tour this summer; bands and dates are expected to be announced within the next couple of months.

"There was a long period of time between the release of 2003's 'Meteora' and 'Minutes to Midnight'," Bennington said. "Even though we did tour (for 'Meteora') for two years, we didn't start working on writing ('Midnight') until seven months after we stopped touring. So it seemed like a really, really long time to our fans and it seemed like a really, really long time to us. I don't see that happening again."

Bennington didn't want to hazard a guess as to what Linkin Park's fourth studio album will sound like, however. "I never anticipate what we're gonna do," he explained. "I find that overplanning a creative project usually means you're gonna screw it up, so I really don't focus on what we're gonna do. When a song comes, I'll write it. When a song comes to (vocalist/keyboardist/guitarist) Mike (Shinoda), he'll put an idea down. We just kind of roll with it spontaneously."
